*The HOA Board passed a revised version of the Highlands Amenities Policy that basically allows a guest/invitee, who is not staying with a resident, to play twice a month.

*Highlands Pickleball Club (Highlands Pickleball Association)
Your Club Treasurer and President learned on a recent trip to the club’s bank that
Highlands Pickleball Club is the original and legal name on file with the bank and US Government. In addition, there were still outdated names listed as key executives on the club’s account. That issue has been corrected and for the easy transition for succeeding Club leadership , future Highlands pickleball business will be conducted as the Highlands Pickleball Club.
*Highlands Pickleball Club – Update: Why, What & How
In mid -April, A working group presented a framework for guiding our pickleball community into the future. The group appreciated all the comments and constructive input that members submitted. The initial framework is posted on Highlandspickleball.com for your review.
Here is update on the progress the areas of, Skill Development (SD), Social Engagement (SE) and Facilities Management (FM)
Skill Development (SD): Provide all Highlands residents opportunities to learn pickleball and progress in skill development.
A SD group has been assembled to set up skills and training opportunities for all levels of playing ability. The skills development committee members are: Helen Yarmoska (group leader), Jim Widdows, Dave Epperson, Mike Cravens, Mo Larmour, Jane Linton and Nicollette Smith.
There will be four different ways to learn and develop skills:
1 Beginner Classes will be offered for all Highlands residents.
2 Coached Drill Session will be offered to HPC members and placement into a session will be based on the members skill ranking (4 levels)
3 Tutors will be provided for individual groups that occasionally wants training on a specific area.
4 Skills Training Clinics for players who mastered skills from the coached drill sessions.
Please contact Helen at hyarmoska@gmail.com as soon as possible if you are interested in becoming an assistant coach or drill instructor. Training the trainers will commence in September for the start of October drills sessions.
Social Engagement (SE): Create a welcoming environment with a sense of belonging and engagement.
An Ambassador Committee has been assembled to create a defined and encouraging path on to the pickleball courts.
The Welcoming Ambassador Committee members are Donna Hover (group leader), Bill Pollock, Katri Noid, and Tom Harris. The group is dedicated to meeting new residents who play or express an interest in pickleball and to ensure new players feel welcome and find a home on the pickleball courts. Contact them at ambassadors@highlandspickleball.com
A Welcome to Highlands Pickleball information sheet has made it into the new residents handbook, Clubhouse library and the HOA Lifestyle webpage.
Facilities Management (FM): Ensure safe, suitable and well maintained pickleball courts and support facilities.
A Facilities Management group of volunteers has been formed: members are Jerry Davis (group leader), Michael Smith, Wayne Yarmoska and Lonnie Leiffer. There will be an email link facilities@highlandspickleball.com on the website to communicate with the FM group about issues, concerns or recommendations for the Highlands pickleball courts. Please direct any issues or recommendations to the group rather than sending directly to HOA.
